duellling divas booking info

You’ll never think of Opera the same way again. You’ll be shaken. You’ll be stirred. You’ll laugh until you cry. Duelling Divas is the smartest, campiest twist on opera that has come our way in—well, forever. You’ll fall in love with Vladka. You’ll fall in love with Gwendoline. You’ll fall in love with Paige. Opera virgin or junkie, you will LOVE this show! …and you’ll leave the theater with a smile.

The Diva Martini: a recipe for a grand time

  • 2 Sopranos (the vigorous operatic variety - no substitutions)
  • 1 Pianist (preferably, the professional pear-shaped concert variety)
  • 18 Costumes (with wigs to die for)
  • A twist of lemon
  • A twist of a knife
  • A nip (or two) of Vladka
  • 1 Set (weapons to taste—include at least 1 spear)
  • 1 Horned Helmet (as garnish, for that “Wagnerian” effect)

Put it all together in a 300-1,000 seat theater and get ready for one of the giddiest binges you’ve been on in a while. It’s opera on steroids—well, vodka… (Bring a box of tissues to dry your eyes...from laughter.)

- Miami New Times

Meet The Divas:

Diva Birgit Soprano Birgit Fioravante (Baroness Vladka von Loudenstimme) has performed a wide range of repertoire encompassing opera, concert and recital music. Highlights of her career include the role of Fricka from Wagner’s Ring with the Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall, soprano soloist for Verdi’s Requiem with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, recorded and broadcast on NPR, and mezzo soloist in Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony with famed Mahler scholar, Gilbert Kaplan conducting. She has covered many international stars’ roles as well, including for Deborah Voigt the title role from Ariadne auf Naxos for Florida Grand Opera. After a New York production of Webers’ Oberon, Jack Heimenz of Musical America wrote “[Fioravante] applied her magnificent plummy soprano to the opera’s best known number and brought down the house.” A FGO production of Suor Angelica with Diana Soviero in the title role had The Miami Herald saying, “the singing is radiant, Birgit Fioravante is the severe monitoring sister to the bone, chastising her charges with vehemence.”
Diva Wendy Soprano Wendy Reynolds (Gwendoline Josephine Bellevoix Bouvier) is a versatile artist whose career includes opera, concert, recital and musical theatre. Her performance of the title role in Verdi's La Traviata for Island Opera Theatre led Celebrate! Key West to write, "I was privileged to hear Wendy Reynolds as she sang the role for the first time. Her performance didn't leave her gasping for air - it left me that way. I was literally on the edge of my seat watching a star being born during the death scene. Such passion. She didn't just own the part - she lived it!" Her operatic roles include the title role of Lehár's The Merry Widow, Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème, and Poussette in Massenet's Manon. The Palm Beach Daily News has written, "Wendy Reynolds performed with great energy and personality and possesses a beautiful soprano voice, with excellent ringing tones and a lovely spin to the sound. She has a great future in the opera world." As a recording artist, Ms. Reynolds released a debut CD of Duelling Divas in 2007, as well as a solo CD, Wings of Healing, produced for Simple Song Productions by Grammy Award-winning producer Michael Fine.
Diva Heather Pianist Dr. Heather Coltman (Paige Turner) is currently Chair of the Department of Music at Florida Atlantic University, where she is a Professor of Music and the Director of Keyboard Studies. A top prize-winner in numerous major international competitions, she performs extensively throughout North America, Europe, and South Africa. Dr. Coltman made her debut in her native country of Zambia at the age of five, and immigrated to the United States in 1966. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas, a Master of Music degree from the Mannes College of Music in New York and Bachelor of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Her recordings can be heard on Wisdom Recordings, Klavier Records, Innova Recordings, Heng Hao Records and Lyra Productions. In addition to her active schedule as a solo performer and recording artist, she is prized by many fellow musicians as a collaborative pianist with deep musical insight and phenomenal technique.
